Hi Pavel - I've just come across your post regarding Sgt L R Cowling and 4BGS. Did you ever find any more detail regarding Cowling? He appears on the war memorial I'm currently working on, so I can provide you with detail of death (though I'm sure you already have this), plus a couple of photos if they're still of interest.
