Hi, I have just joined the Bulletin and hoping to find out more about my father, He joined the RAAF in 1940 and was then sent to Rhodesia for pilot training. He was then sent to the UK and was in a squadron which did photo reconnaissance over france. I also believe he also dod train strafing in france. I think his base was around York. He did speak about his time in Rhodesia and also told me he became friends with Ian Smith the then President of Rhodesia. If someone can get me started his name was James Hughes fliying officer 408208. The only squadron number I can find is 231. In Australia he was also a member of the RAAF Rhodisia association of which I cant find any information on. Hoping someone can help me, Kind Regards, Simon Hughes ************
Henk, Thanks for all your help, you are doing a fantastic job for future historians and to the memory of the 'Unaccounted Airmen' Roy
Roy, Like I said to another visitor of the RAF Commands Forum: I always will answer if I know. Unfortunately also HAIN still is on my list of airmen unaccounted for. Henk.
Hello Henk Thanks for the update, have checked the ORB to see if I had made a typo, but no, it was N2124. Will have to see where they went wrong. Thanks, Roy
Hello Roy, Didn't amend my files re Sgt McKENZIE for reason serial N2124 was NEVER on the strength of 55 OTU and moreover 12-3-1942 delivered to the RAAF. Regards, Henk.
