Default 90248 Flying Officer Peter J. Danielsen, RAF

Could anyone confirmn this gentleman's date of death:
    CWGC has 17 May 1940
Franks Vol 1 has 27 may 1940 in Hurricane P3581 - lost in the same action as S/Ldr G V Perry in P3423
Perhaps someone has the 605 ORB for that period

    Many thanks,
    Bobby

Cornwell (BoFrance Then & Now) has27th for this loss. Franks' '12 Days in May' has no mention of this loss on 17th. so looks like a CWGC error.

As always when a Scandinavian (maybe Danish) family name pops up: Does anyone know the family background. Any Danish connection?

Seems to be brother of P/O Hugh Christopher Danielsen, 62702 RAFVR (KIA 25/3 1942)

and son of Colonel John William Danielsen, D.S.O., b. 1875 in Kings Norton.

A very old thread, but as it came up in Alex's unaccounted airmen thread I thought I would add the answer here.
    Reference to the 605 Sqn:
    Record of events: http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...ils/r/D8415855
    Summary of events: http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...ils/r/D8415854
for May 40 confirms that F/O Danielsen was lost on 27 May 40.

And I he was of German descent. His grandfather Nicolaus Friedrich Danielsen was born in the German Empire and naturalised as British subject in May 1886.

The CWGC accepted my correction, and the date of his death has been amended to 27 May:
