Died on active service. A death from natural causes, ground accident, not likely an aircraft related death, rememebr below Sgt ranks are non aircrew for the period you are looking at.

Please search the archives for the serial number of the men in 1942 1943 as I'm sure Henk has covered some of them in his threads

    Thanks Dennis.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd already come across Wright in Henk's post through Google, but rather stupidly included him in my request list - I'd guess I had a 'senior moment'.

I've found Walker now on the 'old site' - not sure how I missed him first time round [your edit beat me to it!], and I'd already seen Henderson on one of Henk's Unaccounted Airmen posts, but there's no further info on him.

    Regards

    Dear Simon,
Why such a long list !! Don't be so 'hungry' and just come up with 2 or 3 names at a time. Have a huge back log on the RAF Commands threads due to illness and can't cope with your question.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Default Cooper - KAI 8 Sep 1943

    Hi

I think I may be able to help with this one. F/S R.E.J. Cooper (note initials) was one of the crew of Wellington XII MP509 which was shot down whilst attacking U402 in the Bay of Biscay on the night of 7/8 Sep 1943. The crew comprised (as well as F/S Cooper) F/O C.J Payne, WO A.L. Brigden, P/O R.J. GERRETT, Sgt L. Vaughan-Harrison (who was my father) and Sgt C.J.E.Moody. The initial attach was carried out by another Wellington XIV (Capt was F/O Armstrong) who dropped Depth Charges. This was followed by MP509 which was shot down by U402. I have copies of the log and the other Wellingtons crew debriefing from the TNA which describes what happened in detail but it is on A3 sheets and I only have an A4 scanner. If you want copies email me your address and I will put them in the post. email: tonysnewemail@btinternet.com

    best wishes

    TonyJ
