Hi Henk
Bourne is in Lincolnshire, and probably right for 12 FTS
Regards
Dick
Was 12 FTS at that time based at Spittlegate (Grantham) in Lincolnshire ? What county was Bourne, the place of death registration for Jenkinson and Morrison ?
AB Serials for N5318: Hit by Battle P6765 and crashed. (P6765 also was 12 FTS, survived, went to 1 FTS and SOC 23-8-1944).
Regards,
Henk.

Hi Henk
No. 12 Flying Training School was formed on 1 December 1938 at Grantham (Spittlegate) so certainly fits the bill.
If you want the location of the other FTS mentioned just ask - my source "RAF Flying Training and Support Units" the 1997 version not the latest!!
cheers

Thanks Allan for your offer. The book (latest edition) is on my book-shelf, however for me difficult to read whether 12 FTS on 20-9-1940 still was based at Spittlegate.
Regards,
Henk.
Hello Henk
From my version we have No. 12 Flying Training School at Grantham from 1.12.38, becoming No. 12 Service Flying Training School from 3.9.39 at same location, then renaming to No. 12 (Pilots) Advanced Flying Unit on 1.4.42 ex No. 12 SFTS at Grantham (renamed Spittlegate 29.3.44).
Thus continuous location at Grantham/Spittlegate through several Unit name changes, with detachments at Jurby (Isle of Man), Penrhos and Harlaxton.
cheers from a very very wet SW England

Oxford 1-P9039-2FTS -probably collided with anson N9821 and crashed near little Rissington already as casualty on P9039:LAC(Pilot u/t) Robert B HUGH-967883). This last detail is incorrect and the pilot was my brother and should read LAC U/t Pilot Robert B HIGH-967883. Regards Arthur High
Details of the tragic accident.
Avro Anson N9821 of No6 service flying Training School, based at RAF Little Rissington and Airspeed Oxford P9039 of No2 SFTS based at Brize Norton, collided in mid air at 14.30hrs on 20 September 1940, 3 Miles due South of Little Rissington aerodrome. The aircraft crashed in a field North of Great Barington .Sadly there were no survivors from either aircraft. My brother Lac u/t pilot Robert B HIGH. was the sole occupant of the Oxford P9039 and was on blindflying at the time.
