    Hello

MP344 is the serial number of the machine in which he lost his life. It was an Airspeed Oxford I, from a batch of 110 delivered between November 1942 and July 1943 by Standard Motors. The machine was flying with No. 3 (Pilots) Advanced Flying Unit when lost on 30th September 1943, with your grandfather.

If you Google Airspeed Oxford you'll find plenty of pictures of this training twin-engine aircraft. Also with the unit's name.

    Hi there

I noticed you posted about S A Humphries, AC 2nd Class in this thread. Can you tell me anymore about him?
He is Stephen Alfred Humphries my great great grandfather and I know very little other than he was in the RAFVR as an aircraft man second class.
He died in the Royal herbert Hospital in Greenwich and is buried in the RAF section of Brookwood Military Cemetery. Any help you can give me would be gratefully received. I know literally nothing about his time in the RAF and have been unable to get his records thanks to an intransigent father who refuses to give me permission for no other reason than 'he' is not interested in family.

    Thanks in advance
    Lisa

I had him dying from injuries sustained in a bombing raid on Woolwich, so that's probably how he sustained his injuries
