    Malcolm,

l can't find any evidence that 127825 F/O David Paton McLOUGHLIN RAFVR, was aboard No.220 Sqn Fortress FK206 on the 4th December, 1943.

    l have the following:

    4-12-1943
    No.220 Sqn
    Fortress IIA FK206

Took off on an anti-submarine sweep and crashed in the sea two and a half miles north of Lagens, Azores. It took off normally but two miles from the end of the runway it turned to starboard and either dived or stalled into the sea. The cause of the crash is unknown.

    132320 F/O (1st Pilot) Desmond Edward MORRIS RAFVR +
    1192004 F/Sgt (2nd Pilot) Robert Noel MORRISON RAFVR +
AUS408252 P/O (Obs.) James Geoffrey JOHNSON RAAF +
    AUS406868 P/O (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Arthur PEARCE RAAF +
    149162 P/O (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Harold LAWSON RAFVR +
    R/121119 WO2 (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Carl Thomas FLACK RCAF +
536451 W/O (Air Gnr.) Michael Patrick CAMPION GC RAF +
R/125388 WO2 (Air Gnr.) Joseph Edouard Roch BOUDREAULT RCAF +

P/O Johnson RAAF, W/O Flack RCAF and W/O Boudreault RCAF are buried in Lajes War Cemetery, Azores. The remaining crew members have no known graves and are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

    Per: Alan Storr (with additives).

    Would welcome any additional information/corrections.

    Hi Col

My fault I'd listed him incorrectly, he was actually with 1404 (Met) Flt but I haven't found a candidate aircraft yet.

    McLoughlin was onboard DG316.

The unit is confused on the F1180 initially Met Conversion unit it was scored out and replaced with 1674 CU.

    Details of the crash are:

Crashed into the sea after take off for a night training flight. F/L Hartley was instructing the crew from No.517 Sqn who were converting to Halifax and is buried in Rawtenstall Cemetery, Lancashire. Both Sgt Barratt and F/O McLoughlin are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Pinnace 1248 was ordered to sea for a crash call position North of Scarnish but found nothing.
Aircraft exploded in sea 200 yards from low water mark, Hynish Bay, Tiree, at 00:24, whilst on a night dual training flight. One survivor, 1333692 F/Sgt S F Bartrum (pilot), four others killed.

    J M Newmarch, J Heaton, G N C Gillman, H Greenwood, S Parry, J C Richards, C M Hills, all listed DOAS
    http://www.skynet.ie/~dan/war/flight...nscription.htm

I cannot seem to find Hudson listed in Fligth or Aeroplane, Wills Calenders lists him died in City Sanitorium, Yeardley, Green Road, Birmingham.
this is normal enough I think for non serving natural deaths, not to appear in Casualty lists.

I have just identified Marson as probably killed whilst flying in Harvard I, P5798 of No 20 SFTS, which crashed near New Martinthorpe in Southern Rhodesia.
