McLoughlin was onboard DG316.
The unit is confused on the F1180 initially Met Conversion unit it was scored out and replaced with 1674 CU.
Details of the crash are:
Crashed into the sea after take off for a night training flight. F/L Hartley was instructing the crew from No.517 Sqn who were converting to Halifax and is buried in Rawtenstall Cemetery, Lancashire. Both Sgt Barratt and F/O McLoughlin are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
Pinnace 1248 was ordered to sea for a crash call position North of Scarnish but found nothing.
Aircraft exploded in sea 200 yards from low water mark, Hynish Bay, Tiree, at 00:24, whilst on a night dual training flight. One survivor, 1333692 F/Sgt S F Bartrum (pilot), four others killed.
