Default Image Gallery Tutorial + Updates

The Image gallery is located at http://www.rafcommands.com/galleries/members .. you can access this from any forum page by clicking "Upload Images" at the top of the page on the menu bar under the RAFCommands Logo (you have to be a registered user to see this link)

Updated 2014 July 4th: The gallery needs a login before you can update.

The login details are displayed in a yellow themed Notice on the top of the General Category Forum (or its child forums).

Only Registered, Approved Members can see the login details. (which may change from time to time).

    ----------------------------------------------------------
Download the tutorial and learn how to upload and link your images http://www.rafcommands.com/ImageGalleryTutorial.pdf

The tutorial is very simple .

    First Page
    - familiarizes you with the layout of the upload area

Second Page - shows the four or five steps in uploading an image

Third Page - shows you how you can "Link" those images in the main forum
(If you learn this, it will make the most of the gallery feature).

Please download the tutorial from http://www.rafcommands.com/ImageGalleryTutorial.pdf

    - I will be making this sticky for a while before moving it the Forum Feedback Section

    Best Practices:

    1. JPG images work the best - GIF images are a little unpredictable
    2. Images under 2400px width/height work best. Larger files can be uploaded but they become very inconvenient for both the software and other visitors.
    3. Add tag to your image at teh time of uploading- Username, subject of the image etc would work fine.

A modification to the Image Galleries. based on user feedback that the upload area is difficult to find from the home page. I have made a minor change to that eliminates one level of clicking.

So the upload area is http://www.rafcommands.com/galleries/members The level "forum" has been eliminated

unfortunately this means that some thumbnails and links posted will appear broken if they are to direct images. I will try and fix all that i can find in the next few hours.

Paul de Carte had sent in three photos from his father's collection - these are related to FJ coded Thunderbolt fighters of No.261 Squadron.

Does anyone one know the circumstances of the above ? Type? Location? Date?

Seems either Middle east or tropics?

    Jagan,

    According to the Air-Britain 'ROYAL AIR FORCE AIRCRAFT J1 - J9999 and WW1 Survivors' that is Bristol Fighter F.2b H1512. The entry reads in full;
"114 Sqdn .19; renumbered 28 Sqdn 1.2.20; EF (engine failure), crashed, E of Ambala, 28.2.20"

    Hope this helps,

    Martin Gleeson.

Just a heads up on a lovely album of a repair and salvage unit that Paul King has uploaded in our gallery in the Middle East Section.

A good collection of Wrecked Spitfires and Wellingtons and others.
