John Yiannis Kouratou 1461348 , attached to 201 Flight of Number 55 Repair Unit , was engaged on clearance work in Leyton, London to remove the wreckage of V Weapon attacks. Whilst engaged in the work , the Airmen went to take shelter as more V Weapons began to arrive but when at the entrance to a shelter a V Weapon impacted killing Kouratou and seriously injuring 3 other Airmen . The wounded were evacuated to Whipps Cross hospital and the remainder of the Flight was so badly shaken , they were removed from the detail
