I have service numbers of R58473 for Fisher and J14597 for Witcher, but no forenames or POW numbers ... not sure if that helps but it may be a start point for you.

    Regards

Default Two more 35 Sqn crewmen - PoW unidentified

    Good afternoon,

I have two more crewmen I am unabme to find in the PoW lists:

    Sgt S.T Fisher (L9503 - 15/16.09.41)
    F/Sgt C.R. Witcher (L9603 - 07/08.11.41)

Probably like the previous ones, they became a PoW with severe wounds. Any idea of who they were?

    TIA for checking

    Phil

    Class I? :-

T/F/L C. Witcher, CAN (J15497) 11 Sep 45 - Note different Service Number His NCO Number appears to have been was 59027

    Ottawa Dec 6 1941

Previously reported Missing now reported PoW

Sgt Charles Witcher R59027. From Brandon Manitoba

The 'R' in his name must be a corruption of 'R' from Service number R 59027

Excellent Paul. Thanks. Just a note of them, in Chorley's book on the BC losses, none are reported to be RCAF.

    Phil,

    From 'Footprints'.

Sgt S.T Fisher (L9503 - 15/16.09.41) in 8B, SL VI and Stalag 357 so lasted the war out as a POW and as captured in 41, unlikely to have been too severely wounded otherwise would have been repatriated but they were reluctant to repatriate RAF as there are a few examples of amputees who continued to fly. Canadian, as suggested so try their records as well.

F/Sgt C.R. Witcher (L9603 - 07/08.11.41) 8B to SL 3? On Commission or may have moved on to SL VI and 357 as Fisher. Is his name spelt right? There is also a C R Whicher in some documents? This guy is also Canadian. Does not look like he was repatriated either.

    Liberation Questionnaires required, l think.

I've just been directed to this thread and can confirm that J14597 Charles Witcher was a POW for the duration of the war. His movements whilst a POW according to his liberation report are:
    Dulag Luft 12/11/41 to 15/11/41
    Stalag VIIIB 17/11/41 to 20/05/42
    Luft III 22/05/42 to 29/01/45
    Marlag & Milan 10/02/45 to 03/04/45
Marching column liberated at TRENDHORST 02/05/45
