Corporal Vaughan died on 28 October 1944 in the Royal Naval Auxiliary Hospital at Alexandria, Egypt, from typhoid fever. As he died in a Royal Navy establishment, his death is recorded in the RN's Registers of Reports of Deaths.

Patrick Beverley Laing-Meason 103564 , attached to Number 83 GCU , was killed in a flying accident when Spitfire RM649 crashed onto open ground adjoining Swakleys Road, Ickenham. It was believed he had stayed with the aircraft to ensure it missed housing in the densely built up area
