    Hello Gerry,

As mentionned by Serge, in many case it does not appears due to family safety.

As he received his DSO in July 1944,
have you look at the 272 Sqn ORB it may appears , he left the squadron in September

    Best regards

    Hi all,
Indeed are foreign receivers of any British award not recorded in the London Gazette.
In this instance though it seems as if this rule does not apply:
    https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/...upplement/4061
(7th from the bottom, left column)

I would be keen on receiving the citation for the DFC

Serge, am I correct that his awards are not listed on the museum website?

    Best
    Jelle

    Hi Jelle,
    Thanks for your answer.
I am aware of his DFC entry in the gazette but can't find anything relating to his DSO.
I will check the ORB when I am at Kew next.
    Kind regards
    Gerry

For what it's worth: his DSO is also mentioned in Chris Shores' Those Other Eagles

Because Chris Shores records it does not mean it's gospel!

By that I mean we all make mistakes or repeat others mistakes.

Why would Roman's DFC be published but not a DSO? The enemy would pick up information on both awards.

Let's have a photo of the medals a mounted, please. That will settle this once and for all.

On the other hand, Michael Maton does not record Roman`s DSO in his "Honour the Air Forces".

    Dear all,
Thanks for all of your replies.
I am happy that Serge's post 8 confirms that he was awarded the DSO.
    Kind regards

I've just checked James Sutherland's book dealing with the DSO post 1920.

    Unfortunately, no reference to Roman.

    Good Morning Rene,

Unfortunately, the link is 'broken' and hence I cannot view the photos.
