I think Samuel Charles Hellard, is my Grandad. I'd like to understand why he's "unaccounted", and whether there's any information that the family can provide to rectify this. Thanks.

The originator of this thread, who has now sadly passed away himself, began many years ago to record the causes of death of all Allied airmen.

In this context 'unaccounted' simply refers to the fact that the cause of death of the individual was unknown at the time.

If you can update us on the cause of your Grandfather's death, it would help in achieving Henk's original aim.
