At 0545 hrs on 4 October 1945, 439481 F/Sgt Maroney, No. 36 Sqn, was riding on the running board of RAAF Tender 11065 on the tarmac area at Garbutt. The door of the tender flew open and F/Sgt Maroney was thrown to the ground, sustaining head injuries. He was immediately conveyed to No. 3 Medical Receiving Station where he died at 1145 hrs on the same day.

43691 LAC (DMT) Peter Gilbert Dwight SHEPPARD RAAF (of No.41 Sqn RAAF), was discharged from RAAF on 13 October, 1944, as medically unfit for further service. He died of an unspecified illness on 4 October, 1945.
