He had previously been an air gunner in Lancaster bombers. He (like so many) spoke little about the war only that he had been a mid-upper gunner and the worst feeling was when coming to breakfast the days after a raid to see so many empty tables when crews had not come home. He was flying a Photo Reconaissance Spitfire IV on a high altitude photo training exercise to the Belfast area. He Possibly over flew Dyce airfield, now Aberdeen airport, and ran out of fuel over the North Sea. Another possibility is oxygen failure. His body was washed up in Norway. Public · 2w

He married a polish woman and traveled back to Maryland with her. He died in August 2005. I do know that Romaniszyn did arrive home because I have a picture of him that was sent to my grandfather. I am not sure what happened to Wozniak or Abramik but I know they went to pow camps. I have some letters from them to my grandfather but they are in polish. I only know english so it will take awhile to figure what happened. Also I know that Jankowski died on March 05, 1943 because my grandfather has a picture of his tombstone that says the date. All wre considered centres of excellence. Sadly, sucessive governments have almost obliterated the military medical services through their foolish cost-cutting decisions. Public · 3w

Rebekah Geneviève-Dolorèse GarlandOh this is my Grandfather! Wow! I seriously have tears of joy in my eyes. My father and I are always hunting for information about him. I couldn't have found this at a better time, as my father is getting quite old, and in hospital right now. Thank you so very much! I can't tell you how much reading and being able to share this with him means to me, and even moreso him. His fathers body has never been recovered, and he has always sought answers. After a lifetime of military service himself, my father found very few. Thanks to the online world these days, and efforts like yours I can give him one last good one. This is far more detailed than anything we've ever obtained. Also it may help us and the dna based recovery program here in Canada narrow things down a bit more, and bring him home one day. <3 Keep up the great work!
