Died in hospital after car accident

He was a mechanic, born on 4th May 1909. He survived the war but was involved in a road accident at Six Mile Bottom near Cambridge on the main road from Newmarket to Cambridge in mysterious circumstances on 8th November 1946. The lorry involved disappeared shortly afterwards. He died in Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge the next morning. No inquest was held but witness statements were taken and sent to Group Headquarters. He is buried in Cambridge.

FOX, Denis Evan - Sgt - 1609042 - the Goucestershire Echo of November 9th 1946 reported the following:

Flight-Sergt. Dennis [sic] Evan Fox, of 139, Prestbury Road, Cheltenham, and a nine years old boy have ied as the result of a collision between a motor-cycle and a motor-car at Cassington, near Oxford, on Friday night.
Flight Sergt. Fox, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Fox, of the Prestbury Road Post Office, was killed instantly, and Edward French, a nine years old boy of Cassington, died in the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford.
The collision occurred on the Northern by-pass road. Flt. Sgt. Fox was riding his motor-cycle from the camp at Uxbridge, Middlesex, and the boy was a passenger in the car.

KERRIDGE, Leonard John - LAC - 1249521 - the national Probate Calendar records that the died at the R.A.F. Hospital, Wroughton.

DOLAN, Francis Donald - Air Mechanic - FX.685741 - died at the Southern Hospital, Dartford, due to Acute Military TB.

Chris Hobson, in Failed To Return - Part 2 - A-B, p.204, mentions his unit as, 10 Motor Transport Light Repair Unit, Lobardo, Egypt. Place of Residence - Sutton Coldfield, Warwicks. Died 08 November 1946.
