BERGAU, Waldemar - GAF - the Western Morning News of January 18th 1947 reported that he died after drinking from a bottle which was found to have contained ethyl-glycol (anti-freeze). The bottle has been labelled as gin, Bergau said that he had been given the bottle by a woman while he was working at Staddon Fort, but his fellow prisoner cast doubt on this. An open verdict was recorded by the Coroner.

James Crawford 509251 , attached to AHQ Italy , was admitted dangerously ill to Number 8 British CCS on 1 January suffering from injuries to the scalp, cerebral lacerations and internal haemorrhage, dying ar 16:45 Hours. A court of inquiry found his injuries to be self inflicted
