Flying Officer Oswald St. John PIGG (39678)

Is he really unnaccounted, or is there some doubt about the ID of his Spitfire P9458?

Aircraftman 1st Class Alexander GREIG (867836):

The Hartlepool Mail of December 10th 1940 reported the following:

    TRANSPORTER FATALITY
There was a fatal accident at the Tees Transporter last night. Alexander Greig (37), whose home address is 115 Biddelstone Road, Newcastle, was in charge of a military vehicle which was being taken over by the travelling car. For some reason his vehicle ran forward just as the car was stopping. It dropped down the side of the bridge into the safety trap underneath. Grieg, when recovered, was dead. Death had been instantaneous.

    Regards

    Simon
