Hello,
A bit more on the demise of LAC James Albert COOK (DMT) RAAF:
LAC COOK RAAF, of No.76 Sqn Detachment at 481 Maintenance Sqn. 81 (Fighter Wing), RAAF, BOFU, died as a result of injuries received in the early hours of the morning of 9th May, 1947, when he apparently fell from an emergency escape rope hanging from the second floor window of his barracks block at Bofu, Japan. Various members of the RAAF had been using the rope as a means of exit and entrance to the building. It was assumed that this was a quick method of reaching the ground for the purpose of urinating, not to mention the unobserved entry and exiting of the building.
