    Default CWGC Errors

    INDIA
    WALI, Muhammad Swan - P/O - 2140 - RIAF.
    Delhi/Karachi 1939-1945 War Memorials, India.
Okay among other work done today, i discovered that CWGC has an error in his date of death

He died in the crash of Audax K5594 four years earlier on 1943-01-16.

How do we get it corrected? I am sure this can be verified via the Form 1180. I have the ORB Page that depicts the crash and incident.

PS: Reached out to them on their FB page.

    Hi Jagan

I have established a contact with the relevant department having recently been through the WW1 service records of airman dying from 1918 to 1920. I simply sent her an e-mail with jpg images of the records attached. This was accepted as adequate proof for an amendment to be made.

If you can sent me scans of the docs I can pass them on for you.

An old error - still uncorrected in CWGC - Shown as 42 Sqdn instead of 42 OTU - despite Dennis Burke's attempt to correct it.

Is it possible that the Polish "missing" names are recorded on the Polish War Memorial, and not on the Runnymede Memorial? Therefore they are not part of the CWGC's remit? Odd that the Polish graves are recorded on the CWGC website, but not the Polish missing.

There's pdf of the names recorded on the Polish War Memorial available to download here which seems to have some (all?) of your missing names:

    Simon,

Thanks - the missing names vs graves dfferentiation makes sense - I could not find any polish names on Runnymede so thats that.

Still i cant understand why the CWGC is not the caretaker for the Polish War Memorial.. and have that data in their DB..
