    I combined the 1940 thru 1945 Service Aviation pages into PDF files back in the day, 2 per year. It's what I used to use on the late night sessions of name finding with Henk. Then I got married!

    I'm loading them to a good drive link now,,,,,,,, and they should be here....

    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...bR?usp=sharing

    I may not keep that link active for long as space is running out on my account but i can always add them back in.

    I also started this many many moons ago and stalled, I did manage to do transcribe the 1944 DOAS and all WAAF lists

    http://www.ww2irishaviation.com/DOASandWAAF1944.htm
    Ignore the 'flightsa' link at the top, its defunct.

    That also stalled. It could be completed for the website here tho (not by me I might add)

    ACtually, I have recently been involved on a great WW1 project where an army of volunteers have transcribed 78,000 US Army WW1 burial cards, almost done now and will be hosted for free on Fold3.
    https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/...i-burial-cards

    Click on 'Classify' to see how that project has been running.

    Anyone can set up a project on it tho the IT skills would want to be good I think. But it would be a great platform for that kind of donkey work of transcribing. The RAF GRO overseas list springs to mind and these casualty lists. Copyright issues I'm sure would arise and the GRO wouldn't be keen. I must email the GRO for the laugh and see what they say. They might have it licensed to findmypast I think.

    Old Aeroplane wartime magazines seem to have published the same lists but with serial numbers included.

    In the 1945-2 PDF at my link you will find Parkin and Brown listed as Missing beleived KOAS page 8 of 92

    I cannot find Bruce but that is one of the problems with these files, the charactor recognition is only so good, every photo on the pages tends to have scribbles over them which can extend on the text, a good example being page 8 of 92 above.

    Some manual searching is needed at times. It was an art I'd perfected.

    Hello Dennis,

    "I cannot find Bruce"

    He is mentioned with 54 OTU in a handwritten amendment below in my GRO microfiche.

    All on the same Casualty Communique No. 524

    MISSING, BELIEVED KILLED ON ACTIVE SERVICE
    Fit. Lt. M. A. Berkeley; -> Missing Beaufighter ND219 54 OTU
    Flt. Lt. J. G. Brown; -> Unknown listed as 'GTR OTU' -- which makes no sense to me...
    Sgt. S. T. Norfolk; -> Stephen Turner NORFOLK (1042063) 1945-02-21 Served in 1675 HCU Lost in aircraft Liberator EV903
    Sgt. W. H. Parkin -> > Missing Beaufighter ND219 54 OTU

    BRUCE, Tristram Knight Pryce - F/L - 125151 - RAFVR - Runnymede Memorial, Surrey.[ Served as BERKELEY, Mark Athton ].

    All three Command: Fighter Command (Hobson) and Runnymede Memorial though Hobson has 'Died' against Brown - Whereas Casualty Communique No. 524 "
    MISSING, BELIEVED KILLED ON ACTIVE SERVICE"

    I have a feeling all three may have been on Beaufighter and

    "he book "The Charterhall Story" (Thompson, 1989) refers (page 68) to the 54 OTU accident on 24 February 1945 as follows:

    "... ND219 flew into the sea eighteen miles east of Berwick. The Beaufighter, on an AI exercise, had turned onto the target aircraft at 8,000 feet, lost control in a steep turn and spun in. An extensive air and sea search, lasting two days, found no trace of the aircrew. Flight Lieutenant Berkeley, his N/R, and an instructor (on board to check the exercise) were posted missing, presumed dead.""

    Brown was the Instructor
