APPLEBY, Walter Harry - AC1c - 1079595 - the Lincolnshire Echo of April 17th 1946 reported the following:

    Suicide a Month Before Demob

    Worried About Health

A young airman's 26-year-old widow told the Coroner at an inquest at Waddington R.A.F. station yesterday, that he husband, who was found hanging at the station on Monday, a few hours after returning from leave, had the idea that there was something wrong with his health.
A verdict that the airman, Acm. Walter Harry Appleby (23), of Carter Street, Kearsley, near Bolton, took his life while the balance of his mind was disturbed, was recorded by the Lincolnshire South District Coroner (Major W. P. Pattinson).
The widow, Vera Appleby, said that her husband only recently returned from the Azores, where he served with the R.A.F. for three months. He suffered from dysentery in the Azores and on his return was much thinner. The climate did not suit him. When he was home at the weekend he had no appetite.
Summing up, the Coroner said he knew the feeling on returning from leave, and if Appleby was depressed and imagined himself to be ill, he must have given way to this feeling.

    GAZE, John Thomas - AC2c - 1414309 - registered Pontypridd

    JONES, John - Cpl - 961249 - registered Leek

NICHOLSON, Harold George - Sgt - 520437 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at Southmead Hospital, Bristol.

    Regards

    Simon
