The current entry on this database is incorrect
    Jon,
Can you clarify what exactly is incorrect please, so that it can be amended?

I guess he was never a POW death? The current entry will need to be associated with AK555 and the extra text Jon shared can be added in.

Hi Andy , he was never a POW . Im assuming , that someone assumed he died on a torpedoed axis ship en route to Italy as a POW and entered that on this database , but its wholly incorrect . Hes not the only Airman who died on the RAMB IV being evacuated from Tobruk but until Jagan sent me the POW list tother day , Id not picked him up in the errors and partially accounted Airmen on here . They are the hardest to pick out , Id already been all through the Alamein memorial double checking and still missed a few

For Christian Knut Langaard 98601. The original source was from this death certificate on family search https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61...-M9Y4-M?i=1150

If you want a little more Jagan , he bailed out but was badly burnt but still reached shore by dinghy , after being shot down 16 miles North of Gazala Derna Grid 353459 at approximately 11:30 Hours . He was born in Oslo and joined the SAAF from Mozambique in July 1940 , then through 73 , 63, 2 and 22 AS Wings , finishing 26 Seltember 1941 , then to 94 Squadron October to December 1941, thence to 71 OTU till March 1942. He was attached to 1 Squadron from 17 March to 6 April 1942 and to 4 Squadron on 11 April, where he lasted for a mere 2 weeks before being shot down in combat with 109s
