(this may be a bit of a distraction, but many aircscrew related accidents are not listed as 'aviation'.. so real figure involving aircraft maybe 100,000+)

None Aviation related deaths are 467 records short of 20,000

Stanley Thompson 79787 , assistant Adjudant attached to RAF Kenley, died in the Royal Masonic Hospital, London, of hypostatic pneumonia secondary to diffuse sarcoma of the peritoneum

This Information was obtained from a GRO death certificate kindly sponsored by Jon Moore of Bristol who's generosity has now completed the accounting of every RAF Airman lost in the period of the Battle of France and of the Battle of Britain

He's not listed but out of interest as he's down as RIAF and I came across him in my India/Pakistan stuff

Both the crew members initially survived the crash. the Gunner ensured Joseph was hanging on to the tail of the aircraft and swam to shore to get help. when the rescue boat came around, Joseph had drowned by then.

I am not sure why he is listed as American Citizen. He wouldnt be commissioned in the RIAF as an American citizen.
