Default 441 Sq RCAF ORB for 1945

    Hi all,

I am trying to find 441 Sq ORB for March 1945 online but TNA have only F540 for this months and I am not able to find year 1945 at https://heritage.canadiana.ca.
Is the F541 for March 1945 really missing or am I doing something wrong?

    TIA

Hi all, problem solved thanks to Mojmir who pointed me to the reference C-12319 on the Heritage.
I have checked it and it is really till 1945, not 1943 as we have in another thread http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...ine-microfilms :

No. 441 (F) Squadron, Torbay, Digby (Lincs), Dec. 1942-June 1943
    Ford, France, Belgium, Hawkinge, Skeabrae,
    Hunsdon, Molesworth

Nevertheless RAF Form 541 is also not avaiable on Heritage.

    Hi Pavel

Can I suggest that there is no Form 541 because, as far as the squadron were concerned, there were no operations? On 30/12/44 441Sq moved to Skaebrae presumably on rest and did not return to the frontline at Hawkinge until 3/4/45.

Good point. The lack of 541's is often due to lack of operations. However in theory the 541 should include training but was often excluded and likewise training was often excluded from the 540's. An ill informed browser on some 540's would assume no training was carried out, unless they consulted with the summary of hours flown, which normally paints a different story.

Hi all, thank you for your answers and suggestions. You are right there were no operational flights at the time. Finally I have found out the event I was looking for in the F540 (first time I was checking the incorrect date - overnight shift). So the flights are generally mentioned there but no serials, no pilots. But enough for my needs.

Thanks once more for everyone effort.

It can be frustrating to navigate the LAC online material unfortunately. The LAC should prepare an index for each “Reel” so that pages with key dates, movements, and details that can be searched with both LAC and Google search engines.
