    Default Were these pilots RAFVR members?

    The following Hurricane pilots fought over Colombo on 5 April 1942. Would anyone be able to tell me if they were RAFVR?

    30 Sqn

    F/O T.M.C. Allison
    Sgt R.L. Davies
    P/O PM Hamilton

    258 Sqn

    F/L James Lockhart
    F/L A. McFadden
    Sgt R.N. Thain

    Thanks very much for the excellent info. It's very helpful.

    Regarding Hamilton, I got his rank from Hamlin's book "Flat Out", a history of 30 Sqn. On three different pages he refers to a P/O P.M. Hamilton, but he also refers on another page to a pilot called Sgt Hamilton being with the unit during the same time frame (circa April 1942). I think that they must be one and the same, and since your info confirms that he was not commissioned until 1943 (apparently having been in the meantime promoted to F/S), I'm satisfied that he was a sergeant in April 1942.
