    Default 214 Sqn ORB's - tour June 1940 to spring 1941

Please can anybody help me with copies of 214 Sqdn ORB's so that I can track a chaps tour which began June 1940 and continued through spring 1941. I'm off my normal (1943-45) territory helping the family of an airman.
    Many thanks

Hi Pete, I know it has been discussed several times before but TNA still allows to download them free of charge.

Even if they were no longer free to download, you can still view watermarked versions. It was good way to decide if the content you wanted was present, before purchase. Useful for when the free period ends.

Hi Pete. I've got the full set.
Who are you after? Pilot or other crew member?

Thanks for the kind offer Ian, I'd downloaded the months I was after and found the chap.

Incidentally I received a "reward" when working through the pages I found F/L Blome-Jones briefly flying Ops with 214 in Sep 1940, he was later CO of 630 Sqdn - I had been keen to know where he was early in the war. I now see he joined 214 from 103 Sqdn, I dont suppose you have 103's F541 for Jul-Sep 40 do you ?

I noted some early ops for a young Pilot Officer Alec Cranswick in 214 as well.
    cheers

Pete, Blome-Jones was with 103 Sqn 7/40-8/40 on Battles (one operational sortie), attached to 214 Sqn for conversion training 26/8/40 and 10/40-5/41 on Wellingtons with 103 Sqn, rated fit for day and night operations 11/40, 17 sorties 1/41-5/41. Posted to 12 O.T.U. 26/5/41.
    Regards, Mark.

You are a Gent, thank you Mark. He died in Cape Town in 2011 and I'd not been able to get a copy of some parts of his logbook which would have helped me out a lot. This 103 Sqn material helps me out a lot, its appreciated.

    cheers

    Pete,
As with any 103 Sqn query, always worth looking at David Fell's website at northlincsweb.net, has quite a full account of Blome-Jones' RAF career.
    Regards, Mark.
