Default Nummer Eins, Munero Uno, Number One

    Hello All,
I am about to go QRT for today. I will leave you with an interesting little bit of minutiae which came up today during my POW investigations.
Our DB gives 709504 Sgt Denis John Harvey, RAF, of 97 Sqdn, becoming POW 1941-05-10, and in Camp 357 (Kopernikus?) with the POW number 1!
WO416 gives the very same Sgt as being in Dulag Luft Oberrursel with the very same number 1!
Now I don’t pretend to have anything more than a fleeting knowledge of the locations, and admin procedures, of the German POW camps, but I thought you might like to be aware of a “Number One”!!!
And how come he’s Nummer Eins in the middle of 1941? Must have been a lot more before him? Would appreciate a brief briefing!!

    Hi Peter,

Stalag 357 (Neusiedl) Austria was opened 06/41 (Closed 09/41)

Sgt Harvey (POW 1941-05-10) could be the number 1 ... ?
