Default No. 13 SFTS Harvards, Canada, 1945

Hi all, I am trying to identify Harvards used by No. 13 SFTS in January - February 1945.
Pilot has noticed only numbers into his Log Book without letters...

    ??730
    ??723
    ??186
    ??817

I suppose they may be from one of following series:
    AH
    AJ
    FE

but I am not able find a definitive answer. I have tried the RAF Serials books from AB and also great site by late Bob Walker, but no luck.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    TIA

    Hi,

Definitely not FE, from AB, as you say.

From Bruce Roberson, AJ538 - AJ987 were Harvard II so possible for three of them? AH 186 was a Harvard II but allegedly shipped to Rhodesia.

BW186 is possible, British Direct Purchase Contract, Harvard II.

EX100 to EZ799 possible (no black out blocks in this) so EX186, EX723, EX186, EX817, EZ186, EZ730, EZ723 all possible, and Robertson notes "many to Commonwealth air forces".

Sorry can't be more specific but good luck !

Peter thank you for your analyze. Well there are two steps - one serial fitting to the Harvard type and the second if the particular Harvard was really allotted to No. 13 SFTS. I am having problems mostly with the second step.

Have now found my AB Harvard File (!)
The appendix lists all Harvards with RAF serials handed over to Canada when the RAF pulled out of the Commonwealth Air Training Scheme in 1944, ie before your time frame. Looking up your numbers against this produced the following. To RCAF means the hand over in 1944, so regrettably there are no unit allocations after that.

    AH186 13SFTS then to RCAF

    BW186 To RCAF

AJ723 ? (AB question mark in list). 13SFTS then No Further Trace

    AJ730 To RCAF

FE817 13 SFTS until 12.44 then To RCAF

    FE723 To RCAF

FE730 no record of service but went to Canada

    Hope this is better, Peter
