    Default Bidens In The RAF

Who knows where Flt Lt Robert Mervyn Biden (78084) served before he went “in the bag” 1940-08-13. A distant rellie is now attending a meeting in St Ives, Cornwall. We could inflict some learning pain on him, and on those in any known location!!! Might make a humorous difference to the doom/gloom news?

Default Re: Some Information – And Two Questions If You Can Answer Please

    Ross,
Tks yrs. My main purpose in highlighting this was to illustrate that 'remains washed ashore' of an 'airman known unto God' and buried, locally, as an 'Unknown' could have come from many miles away! There will - almost certainly - have been differences in the tidal/current patterns between 1940 and 2021. Climate Change and/or Global Warming (call it what you will) is, basically, governed by the cyclic gravitational change in the orbits of the planets in our solar system. Can't change it (Canute proved that). Read Milankovic!

Robert Murphy Mervyn Biden appears in a few Scottish newspaper articles in 1941, when he wrote to his fiancée (a W.A.A.F.) from his German Camp [Oflag IX A/H] and proposed to her. Their engagement was anounced in October 1941.

He's recorded as being a bomber pilot, and had been wounded and in hospital in Denmark after he was shot down.

    See: http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=T1889

Any relatives in the U.S., by any chance...Washington, maybe?

EDIT - he was reported as being a P.o.W. in August 1940, and a couple of newspapers record that he was in the service of de Havilland Aircraft Company before the war. There is a photo of him in a couple of the articles.

    Regards

Default The Last Lot (for this time!) Of "Difficult" POWs

    Hello All,

I’ve finished with that last batch of POW data from WO416. There were a very large number of typos, name reversals, mis-spellings, and general errors. In themselves these are not significant, but they do vastly increase the time taken to resolve problems!
When is the next batch due to be released?

There were a dozen, or so, that I couldn’t make any sense of! They are below. Can I ask the detectives to see what they can do?

138121 Cpl Murray MacHenpie, RAF. Nothing further known. That’s an Offs number.
    Myrdolin Davis, RAF. NFK.
Fg Off Nylor Meamen, RAF. NFK.
Plt Off Patrick Kennedy (813580), RAF, Stalag IV Muhlberg #404. NFK.
Lt(?) Percy Edmond, RAF. DoB 1917-02-26. PoW at Vlissingen. NFK
Capt Raymond Jamieson (3642), RCAF, Stammlager 344. NFK.
    Sgt Reginald Neroman, RAF. NFK.
Reimund Mailoux, Air Force, Dulag Luft Oberursel #157. Possibly French? NFK
Sqn Ldr Rohdam Ardl (1098), RAF. Dulag Luft Barth #5849. NFK
Fg Off Thomas Edmund, RAF. NFK.
10210 Sgt William Aieginald, RAF. NFK.
    Sgt William England, RAAF. NFK.
Fg Off William Monat, RCAF/RAAF. NFK
Pilot Y Barratt, RAF. NFK. The rank “Pilot” is sometimes associated with the AAC.

    Good luck. TIA
    Peter Davies
