    Default Aircraft Losses Database Corrections

    Jagan

Whilst looking into the detail of the loss of Beaufighter LZ445 at Wick 16/11/43 i found that the death of the pilot J/21389 McCruden R J is incorrectly associated with the spurious entry for Oxford LX445 which was not involved in any fatal accident as far as I can see. Also please note the absence of any entry for the observer, 1324038 Owens J D, also killed.
I have viewed the death register and both these airmen are listed consecutively on the same page.

    regards

    DaveW

    Default Wellington BK438/BK538 database confusion...

    Hello

On the RAF Commands database it has this for Wellington BK438:

    http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=BK438

I see a few online references also have BK438, however shouldn't this be BK538? As per Bill Chorley's BCL 1942, page 263:

    Wellington III BK538 JN-U

    Op: Torino

Took off from Kirmington at 19.10. Overshot and crashed 23.00 while trying to make an emergency landing at Manston airfield, Kent.
    P/O J F Sweet – killed
    F/O T Howell – killed
    Sgt J H N Lissen – killed [sic Lisson]
    Sgt L J Somerville – killed
    Sgt E O Booth – injured

    See also: http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=BK538

I'm confused...not an unusual state of affairs, it must be said!

    Regards

    Regarding Blenheim AZ941: http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=AZ941
    Date of Crash 02 Dec 43 02 Dec 41
02 Dec 41 needs removing, this incident took place on 02 Dec 43, as correctly listed on the CWGC entries for the two crew. A few more details are here:
    http://www.hambo.org/lancing/view_man.php?id=371
The aircraft was coded 74, there is a photo of the wreck on Page 85 of "Lincolnshire Air War 1939-1945 Book Two" (S.Finn, 1983)
The Air-Britain serials book also needs correcting, which I will address.

The entry for Hudson N7232 is linked to two losses:
    http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=N7232
    AIR81/139 is incorrect: https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ls/r/C14141889
The correct serial of the 233 Sqn Hudson was N7323, as confirmed by the 233 Sqn ORB. So this serial needs to be linked to the loss of Sgt Callinan and crew.

AIR81/81 has the correct fate of N7232: https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ls/r/C14141903

Due to an error in the documents, Hudson N7390 is incorrectly linked with the loss of LAC Glass on 26 Aug 40:
    https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ls/r/C16471994
N7390 was one of a batch of 12 supplied directly to Canada (N7380/N7391)

Glass was killed in a Miles Master, correct serial was N7930: http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=N7930

Thanks Andy for catching that. To bring all records into sync I had to edit the CWGC DB Record to the new serial, and then associate the AIR81 record with the correct serial.. now the 7930 page pulls up both the AIR81 and the CWGC record associated.

    Default Miles Master DK973

Is there a thread for submitting corrections to our database?
I ask because the location of the crash of Miles Master DK973 and Lancaster R5501 need amending to Canwick Hill.
Perhaps fittingly for the crew of R5501, this is the location of the International Bomber Command Centre.

Andy, took your suggestion to make this the "Aircraft Losses DB Corrections thread" post away for any further corrections..

I am toying around with setting up a system where frequent contributors can directly make edits to the aircraft losses database. trying to eliminate the middleman here!

The entry for L1093 needs correcting: http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=L1093
The loss referred to in the link AIR81/1273: https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ls/r/C14502721
was actually that of L1039: http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=L1039
