Fernyhough,28, Jackson,20, Montomery,27, and Wareham, 32, are registered at Peterborough, Bowler,24 is registered at Basford, Lincolnshire,Gould,27, is registered at Penrith, Cumberland, Pateman,26, is registered at Bristol, John R Perkins,22, is registered at Cambridge, Port,27 and Rennardson,24 are registered at Hull, Taverner,25, is registered at Stamford, Lincolnshire. Jordan and Squire did not come up.
There is a Sibson very close to Peterborough so it could be that the 4 registered there were on the Oxford that was shot down. There was also a relief landing ground for 14 FTS at Sibson when 14 FTS was at Cranfield.(Ray Sturtivant)

Hello All,
Sibson is c.10 km WSW of Peterborough, and c.10 km SE of Wittering. It's still an active airfield. It was in area between Huntingdonshire, Northamptonshire, and Lincolnshire which was known as The Soke Of Peterborough. Soke was an old Anglo-Saxon administrative area. Why it still existed in WW2 is something of a mystery! If anyone has the answer then I would be grateful for the info! I was born and brought up in Peterborough. When I went for my National Service "They" said 'Name, Number, and Administrative District you come from.' The clerk did not believe me! But they still took me in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Ross,
Hurricane IIA Z2324 was flown by por. pil. (P/O) Olech Antoni KAWCZYNSKI - P.76734, buried Pembrey (St.Illtyd) Churchyard. He crashed into sea off Pembrey Sands, Carmanthenshire. Loss confirmed in the book "KU CZCI Poleglych Lotnmikow 1939-1945".
