1) Service number of Aircraftman 1st Class Frederick John ALLEN Died 18 August 1939. He was serving at RAF Stradishall and died in Colchester Military Hospital from injuries sustained when a practice bomb exploded whilst being removed from an aircraft on Tues 15th August 1939 aged 23

2) Rank, Date and cause of Henry John ATKINS Died During Aug 1939 in Simla (India) aged 39 - Probably Not W/O #149244 ?

3) Rank of Peter Dennis Roland BARNES #553407 Died 20 August 1939. Drowned. Who went bathing from the beach near the Marine Hotel, Schley on that day with a Miss Blackman. of Marsh Perm, Bidiesham.

4) Rank Verdun BULLIVANT #611507 Died 21 August 1939. Aged 22, Drowned Colliery Pond Sheffield while bathing alone at night

5) Rank , Service Number and Date and Cause of Edward Sidney CLEMENTS of RAF St.Athan aged 35 Died during August 1939

8) Service Number of Aircraftman John HART 547825 or 523637 507635 841873 Died 30 August 1939. He was serving at RAF Hucknall when he was knocked down and killed after being struck by a tri-car as he walked from Watnell to Hucknall. Aged 23

->Maybe a mis report for P/) Henry Fiddes LEECH 90469 Killed 2 September 1939. Flew into ground out of cloud, Barking, near Stowmarket, Suffolk. Known as "Harry"


12) Confirm Service number and Cause of Aircraftman 2nd Class James HENDRY 803060 ??? Died 4 August 1939.He is buried in Llantwit Major Cemetery. Aged circa 24 - {rob based St Athan

13) Confirm Service number of Aircraftman William Charles PAYNE 840083 ?? 631032 Died 18 August 1939 He was serving with No 3 Wing, RAF Locking and died when he dived 20 feet off Weston super Mare promenade into shallow water.

14) Service Number of Leading Aircraftman Leslie Protheroe SMITH Died 20 August 1939. He was serving at RAF Cardington was found dead by the side of the Mayford arch having killed by a train between Woking and Worplesdon. He is buried in Brookwood Military Cemetery.


15) Rank and Cause of Albert Leonard WHITE 565448 Died 1 August 1939 at British Military Hospital Karachi, India


16) Service number of Aircraftman 2nd Class Leslie PHILLIPS 901020 or 547768 or 548500 Killed in flying accident 7 August 1939 at Beachy Head, with Sergeant H D P Farrow and Act Sergeant A J W Sergeant ( Blenheim N6180)

10) Clive James acting Pilot Officer , no Number given, was killed in a flying accident in Audax K7505 which stalled off a turn ferrying between Abu Sueir to Habbiniya when he broke formation over Rutbah Aerodrome when he lost height and failed to recover with a heavily loaded aircraft

Jon its obvious now!!! Many thanks for this one - I should have got it myself - It also explains all the 'H Leech' (Henry Fiddes Leexh 2nd Sept 1939) the second one should be LAC Harry Lee 550251
- who died in Audax K75055 as well and AC1 William Edward Leech 525890 Died 13 August 1939. He died suddenly, cause unknown in Palestine General Hospital and is buried in Ramleh War Cemetery
