    Default Unaccounted airman - 14-6-1941

    What was the place of death registration for AC2 Richard M. MACONOCHIE - 1207843.

    Proposed aircraft loss:
    Master I - T8838 - 9 FTS - crashed on approach Castle Cpmbe.

    Not sure if you had it but AC2 R. M. Maconochie is listed DOAS FLight magazine July 24th 1941

    Hello,
    The a/c was a 24 Sqdn SAAF a/c serial "1609".
    Details in vol 1 of " A history of the Mediterranean Air War 1940-1945", page 220.

    Marie on Geni again (Thanks) found death Cert on GORDON so

    Crew were -
    Lt. E.C.Newborn - POW.
    Those killed were
    Air Sgt. Paul Wilhelm DeBeer BOTHMA.
    Air Sgt. Reginald Ernest Oatley GILES.
    2Lt. Charles Cormack GORDON.
    They now rest at Knightsbridge War Cemetery, Acroma, Libya.

    Robert Claude Cope 915849, attached to 220 AMES, was listed as missing and believed a POW, dying of wounds in Kokina hospital with a presumed date of death

    Richard Marshall ( MARCHELL in his records) Maconochie 1207843, attached to Number 8 SoTT , died in RAF Hospital Weeton of cardiac faliure
