Default Seeking ID of 92 Sqn. RAF Pilots

I am looking to further identify the following pilots who served with 92 Sqn., such as full names and service numbers:

F/O F. C. Bradley-Smith (American) (Aug.42-Apr.43) [sometimes referred to as "Bradley Smith" with RCAF Serv.No. J15010 but I suspect that may be incorrect]

P/O Jan Berend Hendrik Brunier (Netherlands Service No. ?) (Apr.41)

    F/Sgt. G. Buchanan (RNZAF) (Nov.43)

    P/O R. A. Cooke (Rhodesian) (Aug.42)

S/Lt. Xavier de Cherade de Montbron (French Service No. ?) (Nov.40-Jul.41)

    Lt. D. C. "Charlie" Hewitt (SAAF) (Aug.42-Jun.43)

    W/O W. F. Kenwood (Aug.42)

    P/O R. MacFarlane (Apr.43)

    Sgt. J. H. (J. M.?) Peacock (Nov.-Dec.43)

    W/O K. Symes (Feb-Mar.44)

    F/L James A. Thomson (Jul-Aug.41)

    Maj. P. W. "Piet" Venter (SAAF - 103178V) (Aug.-Oct.44)

F/O Frederick Theodore Wihak (RCAF Service No. ?) (Oct.43)

    P/O G. (G.R.?) Wilson (RNZAF?)

Any insights would be much appreciated.

    Regards,
    Tom

    Tom,

    R85437/J8209 Frederick Theodore Wihak

    Deceased Regina 2 January 2012

Re "Bradley Smith", the Herald Statesman (Yonkers, NY) in their 16 December 1943 edition stated:

Lt. Bradley Smith engaged to Red Cross aide in Sicily

Lt Smith attended Phillips Academy, Andover, MA and was graduated from Yale University. He joined the RCAF July 1940 and transferred to the United States Army Air Forces about eight months ago. Lt Smith is now stationed in Sicily where he met his future bride. He was employed by the Wright Aeronautical Corporation in Paterson, NJ before entering the service.

    Dave,

Thanks for the info on Wihak; just what I was looking for. As for Bradley Smith, I realized that the "F. C. Bradley-Smith" came from Vols. 2 & 3 of A History of the Mediterranean Air War. 1940-1945 (Shores et al.), where he is referred to under that name. How they came up with that is a mystery as, on checking the 92 Sqn. ORB, I find that he is only referred to as "B. Smith" or "Bradley Smith." There is some more biographical details on these two sites:

P/O R. MacFarlane (Apr.43) - Roy MacFarlane - Was he RAF? I don't find a "Roy MacFarlane" in either the London Gazette or the Air Force Lists

    Tom,

Smith was the son of Dr. Angelo John Smith and Lucy Stuart Bradley of Yonkers, NY. He had two brothers, Lt Angelo J. Smith, Jr, USN and Lt(jg) Ralph Stuart Smith, USN and a sister, Florence Bradley Corbin.

I wonder if the "F.C." pertains to his US DFC?

    Regards,

    Dave

    Hi,

Four Smiths flew with No. 121 Squadron - Bradley SMITH, Fred Cullen SMITH, Fonzo Donald SMITH and Kenneth G. SMITH,

so the first two names created „F. C. Bradley-Smith“

G or G R Wilson was highly unlikely to have been a member of RNZAF if he definitely possessed an RCAF officer number.

G C S Buchanan (A/P u/t) sailed ex NZ to Canada per AORANGI on 26/5/41, arrived Canada 13/6/41. See Errol Martyn's "For Your Tomorrow".
