Hi all,
in the night foghter squadron ORB there is a statement:
"Target was lit during patrol with perimeter track and V. L. cross bars only."
I am interested what does "V. L. cross bars" means? I suppose it might be transverse lines of lights on the runway but not sure what the VL stands for?
Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Not sure of the full context here but could it mean crossed Vertical and Lateral indicator bars on a homing instrument?

I was able to move a little bit forward and this would definitely mean part of the German airfield lighting. What the Mosquito crew was able to see while patrolling over the enemy airfield.
