    Default 1925 /1926 RAF Deaths Clarification X3

    All

I wonder if someone could look up Service Records on Fold 3 or FMP to confirm the following

    1) AC1 William Isaiah David COOPER #345945 31st Dec 1925 or 3rd Dec 1925 RTA 31 December 1925 He was killed in a motor cycle accident when he collided with a lorry at Hinaidi - The grave says 3rd Dec but Cas Card says 31st Dec - Suspect Cas Card correct and 3rd 'Dec' 1925 should be 3rd Jan 1926 - burial date

    2) LAC Frank Langton DEW #341929 Drowned 31 Dec 1925 in Lake Timsah Iraq,- But body Recovered 4-Jan-1926 - His burial date says 4th Jan 1926 - But I again suspect burial date - His Cas Card says 31st Dec 1925

    3) LAC Frank Kelsey #343545 Found dead with wound in throat. RAF Calafrana Malta - RAF St Danes record says died Dec 1925 - But both his Cas card and Grave say 1st Jan 1926 - I suspect the latter is correct

    Thanks Paul

William Isaiah David COOPER - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at Hinaidi on December 31st 1925, confirmed on his R.A.F. records on Fold3.com

Frank Langton DEW - the National Probate Calendar records that he died on January 4th 1926 in Egypt. However his R.A.F. records on Fold3.com record that he was found drowned in Lake Timsah, Ismalia (Egypt, not Iraq) on January 4th 1926.

Frank Kelsey - his R.A.F. records on Fold3.com record that he died on January 1st 1926 at Malta.

Simon thanks for confirming -! I am going to go with Dew 31 Dec 1925 as this is date he reported missing - and also thanks for correct location.

    Simon thanks again

His Cas File has Report of Initially as 1-1-1926 - then amended to "31-12-1925" - I assume he was initially missing on the 31st Dec 1925 date - and while it possible he was alive and drowned later - His death could only be confirmed the date his body found

Could I ask if you could also have a look on Fold 3 for me for

Albert Edward Smith 355978 - his R.A.F. records on Fold3.com has a hand-written note stating:

'Died on 31/5/25 and struck off the strength of the R.A.F. w.e.f. that date. Awarded gratuity of £2.'

Philip Thomas WILTSHIRE 145965 - nothing much relevant on his file except 'Deemed Discharged 30.4.20.' No middle name recorded on his record. His D.o.B. is recorded as 1884.

There is a Pension Card, but it does not record either Date of Death or Cause of Death. His widow is Mrs. Florence Helen Wiltshire, of 244 Wellington Buildings, Ebury Bridge, London SW1. His rank is recorded as 'AM' on the card.

    Simon thanks

OK WILTSHIRE 100% discharged Airman - he not on St Danes Register and his rank on 1918 Muster list was Private 2 which means he was AC2 and would have probably been that on release Thanks Paul

Looks like he's possibly recorded on the 1921 Census as 'Philip Thomas Wiltshire' living in Hanover Square in London. It's not part of my FMP sub, but the preview shows Florence Helen as part of the household so it should be him. If you want me to, I can pay the £3.50 extra and see what it has for him.
