Hello all think this is the right place for this question, I know that for joining the RAFVR in 1939 it was for the duration of the war. Prior to war say 1930 onwards what length of service did you join up for. After a number of years you could join reserves which I think varied from 4 to 6 years. Was the initial period fixed?
I am also assuming that men who signed up for the auxiliary Air Force had similar lengths of service.
My interest is in men who joined up in the early 30’s and how long they served before being allowed to retrain or join the reserves and retrain particularly as aircrew.
Hope someone can help or point me as to where to look.
Thanks
Terry
