Have you looked at the 196 Sqn ORB? Operating from Chivenor HZ532 was one of four tasked to lay mines off St Nazaire. All aircraft returned and landed safely at Chivenor, but HZ532 crashed on take-off for the return to base.

Any details on a 196 Squadron Wellington that over shot its landing on return from a mining sortie. Wellington HZ532 ZO-T.
