    Hi all, I would like to ask for help in decyphering the full names of following Air Ministry departments and I am also interested in their scope of employment:

    Air Minstry P3 (E)
    Air Ministry DP7

    Following valid as of October 1944

    P3 was part of Directorate of Personal Services

    P 3 (a)

    Questions involving discharge and release (other than to industry) of airmen; liaison with S11 and DWAAF on discharge, release and compassionate posting of airwomen.
    Demobilisation.

    P 3 (b)

    All questions other than policy in connection with remustering of air crew personnel.
    Promotion of air crew.
    Liaison with Dominion representatives on air crew personnel.
    Disposal of cases under S 61141.
    Conditions of service (air crew).

    P 3 (c)

    Remustering, reclassification, promotion, repatriation, leave, conditions of service of airmen other than air crew.
    Questions involving new, redundant and obsolete trades.
    Re-enlistment, re-instatement, retention and transfer of airman.
    Good Conduct Badge.
    Long Service Medal and qualification certificate questions.
    Personnel Occurrence Report (Airmen) questions.
    Postings and deferment on compassionate grounds.


    DP7 was part of the Directorate-General of Personnel: -

    DP 7 - Duties

    Policy questions affecting posting of Allied and foreign officers and air crew personnel (trained and under training) serving with the RAF.
    Promulgation, on behalf of S 7, of appointments to commissions, promotions, retirements, etc of Allied personnel
    Selection and posting of Allied and Foreign officers of the rank of Wing Commander and above.

    Selection and posting of Allied and foreign personnel to flying and specialist courses and disposal therefrom.

    Selection and posting of qualified Allied and foreign officers (Squadron Leader and below) and qualified airmen air crew personnel.

    Maintenance of posting record cards, unit record sheets, etc.

    At least with Royal Naval departments you stand a chance of guessing from the acronym although there were a lot of NOIC's :)
