JEFFRIES, James Farrar - Sgt - 759325 - the inquest into his death was reported in the Western Morning News of May 14th 1941. It records that he waskilled in a motor accident while driving home on leave to his parents' house.

He was found pinned underneath his overturned car at Prickley Pear Cross, Ottery St. Mary on the Exmouth-Honiton road by a passer-by and his wife, who managed to free him but he died a few seconds afterwards. A policeman told the inquest that tyre marks on the road suggested a puncture on the nearside rear tyre caused the car to strike a hedge on the opposite side of a right hand bend and rebound across the road and overturn. Death was due to a fractured skull, and a verdict of "Accidental death " was recorded.
