Thanks, Dave. That certainly explains things. Have you any idea of when Norman first came to Canada? From the entry in the 145 ORB it would seem that he considered himself to be South African, although it would seem that he returned to Canada post-war.

Hi Tom,

Nothing that stands out as for an exact day, or even year. His father served in the SAPF from 1909 until 1935 and retired to Canada.

When he married Doris May Lockley at Esquimalt, BC on 9 December 1944 his citizenship is shown as Canadian.
