Default Weather conditions December 1943 Midlands

    Hi,

Reading a diary of a chap who served at RAF Leicester East. In it he stated the first snow did not fall until after Christmas Day. This is at odds with other documents. Anyway of confirming snow fall in the midlands December 1943?

    TIA

    Steve,
The UK Met Office has an on-line Digital Library and Archive.
I have used it in the past to find UK 30s weather data.
Depending on the Squadron or Station, the Operations Record Book may have recorded some daily details also.

I've looked at the Dec 1943 charts and, to be quite honest I'm unable to find much snow reported at all. Perhaps the period around 11-14th a few places might have seen some light snow but nothing worth writing home about. Certainly no significant snow event through the month, and especially not after Christmas.
