MUNSCH, Wilfred Charles Henry, Warrant Officer (1313890) - No.460 Squadron, RAAF - Distinguished Flying Cross - awarded as per London Gazette dated 10 December 1943. Born 19 June 1921. Railway clerk before enlisting. Commissioned 24 January 1944. Died in Norwich. 19 September 2006. Citation in AMB 12236.

As captain of aircraft Warrant Officer Munsch has attacked most of the major targets in Germany including Hamburg and Berlin. Despite the heaviest opposition he has always shown the utmost determination in pressing home his attacks with the greatest vigour. On one occasion he attacked a target at Munchen Gladbach, although one of the turrets of his aircraft and the intercommunication system were useless. This officer, bu his skill and confident fighting spirit, has set an inspiring example to his crew.


MUNSCH, Wilfred Charles Henry, F/L, DFC (171002, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve) - Bomber Command Instructors School - Air Force Cross - awarded as per London Gazette dated 13 June 1946. Public Record Office Air 2/9670 has recommendation drafted when he had flown 1,460 hours (900 on current duties, 40 in previous six months).

This officer has been on the staff of the Bomber Command Instructors School for the last twelve months. Throughout that period, his outstanding energy and enthusiasm for flying have been an inspiration to both staff and pupils while his cheerful devotion to duty has materially contributed to the good will and cooperation which exists throughout the flights.
