FIELDHOUSE, Denis Roland, Warrant Officer (530895) - No. 207 Squadron - Distinguished Flying Cross - awarded as per London Gazette dated 10 December 1943. Born 18 November 1917 in Lewisham, London. Photographer’s assistant, enlisted 1936. Died July 1972 in Hastings. Citation in AMB 12236.
This warrant officer has completed numerous operational missions both in the Middle East and Europe. He has invariably displayed cool skill and devotion to duty even in the face of the fiercest opposition. On one occasion while over Berlin his aircraft suffered a sharp attack from an enemy night fighter. With great coolness Warrant Officer Fieldhouse engaged the enemy aircraft and shot it down. His zeal and enthusiasm have been outstanding at all times.
