These three airmen are all commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, Surrey.
They were aboard RAF Motor Boat 'S 316' which hit a mine at sea off the coast of Milford Haven.

He was an Bordmechaniker/Bordschütze [flight engineer/gunner] Oberfeldwebel of the 6th Staffel of Kampfgeschwader 1 on an armed reconnaissance flight over the Humber, England who was killed when his aircraft (Ju88A-5; Wn 6263; V4+GP) took evasive manoeuvres in response to anti-aircraft fire and crashed into the sea off Spurn Head. ...
