Default 12th November 1918 Deaths, Causes, Units ?

    All

OK -Now going back to all RAF Deaths from 12th November 1918 to July 1921

I have a few outstanding and I was wondering if anyone could fill in gaps

    12th November 1918

    1) Air Mechanic 2nd Class James HOARE 26623 RAF Cause of Death ? Pension / Service record? He was medially discharged from RFC on 16 Nov 1916

    2) Member (Private)Alice Ruth ARMER 22699 WRAF unit when she died of pneumonia Cheltenham ?

    2) Private 2nd Class Robert JOHNSTONE 309080 Cause of death ''K' Section, RAF Depot Blandford

But Finally- 1 casualty I noticed is following

    AIRCRAFTMAN 1ST CLASS
    J McKENNA
    Service Number: F/36250
    Regiment & Unit/Ship
    Royal Navy

R.N. Air Station (Oldbury)-- Died influenza in West Bromwich Hospital

    Date of Death
    Died 12 November 1918

    Buried or commemorated at
    WEST BROMWICH CEMETERY

    G. 7959.

    United Kingdom

Commonwealth War Graves Commission - Headstone Placeholder
    Country of Service
    United Kingdom

He actually was enlisted in RAF but returned to Royal Navy (unclear why) and was in Navy when he died - His Royal Naval Service number was F/36250 and his brief RAF one was 236250 - So my assumption is that any transfers on enlisted airman from RNAS to RAF on formation just had a 2 added to the front of their service number

    Morning Paul

    1. Air Mechanic 2nd Class James HOARE 26623 - his Pension Card on fold3.com records: "Dis. 16.11.16. Died 12.11.18 Tuberculosis. Cm [?] on A.S."

    2. Alice Ruth ARMER 2269 - nothing about a sepcific unit on fold3.com, but ancestry.co.uk has her W.R.A.F. Form 3578 'Form of Enrolment in the Women's Royal Air Force' which records her grade as 3(C) Tech. Stores Worker, and she was appointed to be employed at Handsworth College, Birmingham, on October 14th 1918.

The National Probate Calendar records that she died at the General Hospital, Cheltenham. Her husband was killed in 1917:

    3. Private 2nd Class Robert JOHNSTONE 309080 - his A.M. Form 175 records his name as Johnston, no 'e' on the end. No cause of death.
