    410517 - Unaccounted Airmen - 17-05-1941

    EGYPT
    ATKINSON, Dennis Knox - P/O - 83500 - RAFVR - 107 MU.
    Found dead in his tent of a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

    SPICE, Percy Edward - AC1c - 1359279 - RAFVR - 32 ASP..
    Became seriously ill on May 19th and was admitted to 2 General hospital where he died at 19:15 hours of a cereberal tumour.

    WILLIAMS, Bert - AC2c - 954567 - RAFVR - 102 MU.
    Admitted seriously ill to 54 General Hospital on 11 May where he died at 23:45 Hours of typhoid fever.

    These three airmen rest at the Ismailia War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.

    COLLINS, John Oliver Ross - Sgt - 776207 - RAFVR .
    Asmara War Cemetery, Eritrea.
    Lysander II - P9189 - 237 Sqdn.

    UK
    DIAPER, Eric Patrick - Sgt - 563093 - RAF - 504 Sqdn.
    Derby ( Normanton ) Cemetery, Derbyshire.
    He was found shot through the head, with a service revolver nearby, at Dispersal hut, no witnesses. Police are called in and take necessary action. No reason apparent for the tragic happening.

    SWANSTON, James Nicholson - Lac - 803465 - RAF (AAF).
    Interest Parish Churchyard, Midlothian.
    Died in the Edinburgh Royal infirmary from chronic intestinal nephritis.

    These three airmen rest at Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
    They were crew of Vega Gull - X1033 - Ex G-AERL.

    He could of course have been a flight mechanic who was simply along for a ride.

    Presumably should read HMS Warspite?
    The Vega Gull serial is incorrectly quoted as F1033 in AIR81/6491.
