Default Hanover Raid 27 September 1943

Does anyone have a link to the post raid report for Bomber Command's operation to Hanover on 27 September 1943 including the planned routes in to and out of the target? I have the loss card for my uncle's aircraft which crashed at Ramlingen after being coned by searchlights and being attacked by two fighters. I know from the Middlebrook / Everitt book that the Pathfinder marking was about 8km. North of the centre of Hanover due to the usage of incorrect wind forecasts.

My uncle, Dugald Wood, was the wireless operator in a Short Stirling bomber EF118 that night. The bomb aimer, Robert Taylor, was the only survivor.

    Regards

    Douglas

    Hi Douglas,

In case you don’t know your uncle’s aircraft was shot down by Oblt Heinz Knigge of 2./NJG6 at 23.08 hrs after being coned by 3./Flakscheinw Aby 619, 2 & 5/ Flakscheinw Abt 169 and 2./Flakscheinw Abt 139 and crashed at Ramlingen 20 kms NNE of Hannover. It was his first victory.
Oblt Knigge would only get one before victory before he was killed on 18/19 March 1944.

    Cheers,

    John.
