He went missing during the withdrawal stage on Crete and no trace of them was ever discovered. was seen dead by LAC Greenhaugh at Maleme.
BETTS, Henry Frederick - Lac - 548425 - RAF - 30 Sqdn.
Reported to have been killed in action at Maleme on 20 May by Corporal A.W. Bond, being buried near Maleme.
GOODHAND, Mervyn Sidney - AC1c - 749664 - RAFVR - 30 Sqdn.
Reported killed as a battle casualty in the fighting on Crete.
HOYES, Maxwell - Sgt - 561167 - RAF - 30 Sqdn.
Reported missing as a battle casualty on 31 May. His death was presumed to have occurred on 20 May, but no further information was ever discovered.
HUTCHINSON, William Percival - AC2c - 983217 - RAFVR - 33 Sqdn.
He had been captured at Maleme on 20 May and was being marched away when the prisoners and escort where fired upon by NZ machine guns. Hutchinson was badly wounded with most of his intestine shot out . He was deeply unconscious and with the fire so heavy and with most of the other prisoners by now wounded they applied dressings and crawled away. He was not seen again but survival was impossible in the view of the other Airman present.

He was seen to be killed in action and buried near Maleme by LAC W.I. Spalding.
THOMAS, Denziel Jonah - Lac - 651354 - RAF - 30 Sqdn.
Reported killed as battle casualties during the fighting on Crete.
WILLIAMS, Frank Thomas - Cpl - 365037 - RAF - 30 Sqdn.
Reported to have been killed in action at Maleme on 20 May by Corporal A.W. Bond, being buried near Maleme.
These eight airmen are all commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt.
